Made In Africa Ethiopian Restaurant and Online Shop.
The Latest Big Thing in Little Africa Traditional Ethiopian Feast
Normally, to discover the culinary traditions of Ethiopia, you would have to wing your way for 26 hours or more on two or three planes to get to Addis Ababa. But now, thanks to Tesfaye Tefera and the team at “Made in Africa” on Beaudesert Rd at Moorooka, you can enjoy a genuine Ethiopian experience right here in Brisbane.
You will enjoy the warm and relaxed hospitality of Tesfaye’s family as you and your friends dine on a selection of delicious Ethiopian meat and vegetarian “Wats” ( stews) and “Tibs” (Warm meat with salad), around a traditional Ethiopian “Mesob” (a round, brightly coloured, woven, wicker table), all served with traditional flat, sour-dough pancakes called “Injera”.
Hand washing is an integral part of Ethiopian hospitality and your hosts will ensure that your meal begins with the traditional hand wash... especially of your right hand... as your meal is eaten without utensils and is raised from the mesob to your mouth with your right hand.
You’ll be especially pleased about that hand washing tradition when you learn about the “Gorsha”. Normally you break a piece of Injera and roll it in the food and place it in your own mouth, but sometimes you may tear a piece off, dip it and place it in your friends mouth! This is called a Gorsha and is a sign of true friendship. Of course the bigger the Gorsha the greater the friendship!
Naturally, the delicious, spicy cooking at Made in Africa is going to see you work up a little bit of a thirst during your meal. Don’t be concerned though, Tesfaye has already thought about that... There are plenty of Ethiopian beers for you to enjoy as the perfect accompaniment to that delicious African cuisine.
Just when you thought they couldn’t squeeze any more Ethiopia around a small, colourful, straw table, you will be enthralled when your meal is followed by the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony. Ethiopia is the home of the coffee bean and the Ethiopian people really know their coffee! You are not going to want to miss your host roasting the beans, grinding them and then brewing the coffee right in front of you before serving you and your friends savour the freshest, most delicious coffee from a clay “Jebena”.
At Made in Africa, Ethiopian art and artifacts adorn the wall and your hosts are resplendent in their Ethiopian garb. Where else in Brisbane can you immerse yourself so deeply in the Ethiopian way of life? With such fantastic food, and true African hospitality, you and your friends will want to come back again and again to the only truly authentic Ethiopian dining experience in town.
Normally $55 for a very limited time you can enjoy the experience for just $30 per person. Make sure you ring ahead for bookings and terms and conditions of the special offer to avoid disappointment.
